The Color Red...not too many people have heard of them. Probably their best known song, though still not known by many, is "Sore Throat." I believe that the reason The Color Red did not gain a whole lot of attention is probably, well the first reason is pretty obvious, the label didn't promote the band well enough. Also, they are another band that tend to, and have been buried underneath bands of the same genre such as Saliva, Nickelback, and Default. The lyrics contained within are also not what you would call cliche-proof as they are ridden with cliches. So why would I be giving The Color Red's "Clear" a 5 star review? Well, for all those cliched lyrics, it somehow seems to work either way, and in the end you have a solid hard rock cd that for about 2 dollars or so is a real bargain. So the ability to make those cliched lyrics work alone is what gives this album a 5-star review. Because "Clear" is not a bad album at all, and The Color Red are not a bad band, far from it. I do believe they have broken up, but if not, and if they plan on making another cd, I do hope they keep the same sound but somehow make the lyrics a little less cliche. The Color Red have another album before this, titled "Below The Under." It's not quite as good as "Clear," in my opinion, but it's well worth picking up for the cheap price, as is "Clear."
