This book was in one of our first Amazon book box subscriptions. I'd never seen it, and initially wasn't too thrilled with it.After awhile it grew on me. There is pretty good rhythm to the text, and it lends itself to some dramatic reading (Mayday! Mayday! and Splashing Crashing Mighty Waves!). Our little girl tends to rock/dance along as I read.I like that the ship's captain is female.(A few issues...having lived near Long Island Sound, if a Nor'easter is coming, there's no way a family with a couple of kids would set out in a sailboat, or that the boats shown in the book would go out to rescue it.Second, the family (2 adults and 2 children) don't appear to be wearing life jackets, and the kids and the dog are just hanging out at the edge of the deck. I'm willing to ignore these, as it's a cute book.)The illustrations are relatively simple, and appeal to our toddler. I haven't yet tired of reading it (at least a couple of times a day for the past four months).
