Roman Viking Shield Authentic Round Shield If you were part of the Roman auxillary infantry or cavalry during the later part of the Imperial history, you would have most likely carried the Roman Parma Shield. This round shield was used by the Roman army. Modeled after its original design, this piece features poplar wood construction with a brass boss and brass edging. A single wooden handle has been attached to the back of the shield for carrying/wielding purposes. This particular shield has been painted and finished in a Brimstone Red color. We have other colors available in different listings. The shield also features a heavy 16 gauge steel boss in the center and a steel rim all around the outer edge. It is enhanced by a painted linen covered front. On the reverse side is a wooden bar grip that will ensure easy carrying. With historically authentic design, this shield is great for costumes, re-enactments, and display.
