This shirt stank to high heaven when I took it out of the bag. It smelled like the butyric acid smell you get with older plastic handled tools left in a toolbox in your trunk for years. Except, it was even more chemical-laden and much stronger. Wagering that the scent is a treatment to protect the fabric during manufacturing and shipping, but it was overpowering.Because of the smell, I wasn't willing to try the shirt on without washing it. I got a great deal on the shirt, so I washed it before I tried it on and figured if it didn't work out I wasn't out much if I could no longer return it. I washed it by itself with hot water, and thankfully that completely removed the stench. It came out smelling like clean laundry should smell. PHEW!And it turns out that the shirt fits well. I did find a stray thread here and there and I singed those and it looks perfect. I'm tall, so I appreciate the extra length of a work shirt and it's a classic, regular sort of fit that looks great on me.One other note - do not rely on the color in the photos for the navy blue. This is indeed the typical dark navy that is common for work shirts across all brands and it is not as light as the sample photos seem to show.
