Hot or cold, the longest-lasting retained temperature. Easy to clean, simple mechanism, best drinkablibility narrow cylinders in all models which is great for EDC and trips local or across the ocean. However, they bang around in most auto cupholders. Would like to see the lid completely flip so I can see over the top while sipping away -- especially while driving. This model is an outlier from their standard design in the width at the top and the lid - that does not come apart for cleaning but has ports everywhere to keep things fresh. Larger drinking opening as well. This is my daily go-to right now. BTW, I own, in a search for perfection, a collection of YETI (great multiple lids) and HYDRO FLASK and other popular and highly ranked brands --- each has very strong features and deficits. However in aggregate - unless I'm in the car for a long stretch adding a 36oz YETI monster too big for the cupholder - but a tank.I love Zojirushi everything. I have 2 of the previous version of this travel mug and this one is internally-threaded, so it's much easier to clean. I can't speak to how leakproof it is or how well it holds its heat yet because I use them mostly in the winter for hot cocoa, so hopefully it's as good as the older version in that respect.I was in search of a "perfect" travel mug to use with a variety of cup holders on my bicycle handlebars. I got tired of paper and plastic cups burbling over and even blowing away during my rides.I generally don't drink my coffee drink during my bike rides, at least not in the same way I would grab a plastic water bicycle water bottle during a ride. Usually, I'm just transporting a coffee drink and trying to keep it hot (or cold), or I may stop to take a sip. There was competition! I ordered a total of seven 16 oz insulated mugs to compare. Here's a quick breakdown with ASIN numbers so you can easily look them up on Amazon:B0039SLSU6 Thermos: Best fitting, and heaviest weight by far (i.e. highest material quality). Unfortunately encumbered by an overly complex lid design that proved problematic out of the box, and looked difficult to clean.B07S1Y48TP Lasting Coffee: Second best fitting. Meh quality. Threaded lid only twists on 1/4 turn and "pulls off" with only 1/8 twist. Prickly plastic barb on the lid. Cheap flip lid with plastic "molded in" hinge and lock.B007RTXJHS Trudeau Maison Journey: Fit was OK and I was pleased with the sealing mechanism, but decided the handle got in the way and wasn't suited for this purpose.B077FZ5CZC Rubbermaid: Flip lid similar to Lasting Coffee, a little fat for my handlebar holder.B07J1J6JTM MIRA: Very similar to Lasting Coffee, too skinny -- was concerned it would slip through one of my handlebar holdersB081TK4C72 Farberware: Way too fat to fit. Described as a screw-on lid but was actually a press-on lid.The bicycle handlebar holders I'm using include an "industry standard" PDW Bar-ista drink holder (B003Z80J6E), a generic aluminum ring-style similar to the PDW, and the Delta Cycle holder which is narrower, and more similar to a water bottle cage with a silicone band pulling the two wings of the cage towards each other. The threaded-on lid takes a full turn to secure. The primary seal is a molded silicone skirt style seal that expands out to meet the inside of the mug (well, actually, it's slightly oversized and reduces in to follow the contour of the wall). The seal is removable for washing. The flip-lid pivots on a stainless steel, sprung hinge, and the trigger to open it also pivots on a sprung hinge and does not rely on bending plastic to latch / unlatch. The mouthpiece seat is stupid-simple squishy rubbery plug that just stops up the large drink hole, very similar to a baby pacifier. And then there's the lid lock, which is just extra protection against the lid flipping open. Two unappreciated features are the flip-lid has a detent so that, if it's pushed open all the way, it stays put and doesn't wiggle around, and the drink spout is great for controlled pouring into a proper ceramic coffee mug.Measurements: This mug starts at 68mm diameter at the base. It steadily tapers up to 76mm, before widening to the final 82mm diameter at the widest part. The mug portion without lid is 171mm tall. This works well to keep my coffee hot, and it doesn't drip when held upside down. Cleaning is very easy as all parts that are normally exposed to the drink are exposed. There are no hidden mechanisms like on my Contigo travel mugs or the Thermos mug I mentioned above.Lastly, I was unfamiliar with the Zojirushi name when I purchased this mug, but I came to learn (from product literature and further reading online) that it's a reputable company that's been manufacturing vacuum insulated containers since 1948, headquartered in Japan with manufacturing in Thailand. That helps to explain why the material quality is so high compared to the others (hinges and seals), but also why it was the second costliest travel mug of the seven.I use it for cold water and I use different middle from zojiroshi for hot coffeeVery easy to clean! Keep warm for a long time! The only downside is that the mouth of the cup is a bit wide, I don't like it very much. The capacity is very largeBest travel mug. Only one that fits beneath a Keurig coffee maker. Stains are hard to impossible to remove from plastic topMy friend recommended the brand and it does not disappoint.I was reluctant to replace my classic starbucks lucy mug I'd had since 2004 (really), but finally I'd had enough with they yeti-ites bragging about their high tech mugs. Yeti just seemed expensive to me, and I'm a loyal ZOJI user since I've had 3 hot water machines over the last 20+ yrs--their products are quality. So I took a chance and got this mug and it's funny that it has a thing that unfolds out to poster size to instruct you on how to use...a MUG. It's kind of..you just have to see it. you'll laugh. The key takeaway is there is a MARK on the inside of the mug that shows you that you cannot fill beyond this point. This is the one cardinal rule. 1 micrometer above this mark and your mug will leakSo as an end user of this mug, the mug has ONE rule--don't fill beyond this mark. Ok? If you over fill, blow on it and sip it away until you get below the mark. Great! Now it won't leakThe cap is difficult to put on, you kind of have to put it on square, then counterintuitively UNSCREW it until it settles flush into it's threads correctly, then you tighten. Knowing this will save you frustration. That's it. You've mastered the zoji mugIt held my coffee acceptably hot for 4 hours and has been doing that consistentlyExcept for the long wait for the mug to be shipped all the way from the US, no other complains about the quality of the product itself. it is a great mug. The top could be a bit tricky to clean.Literally the best travel mug ever. Coffee stays hot for hours, particularly if you pre-warm it with hot water. And the secure spot and lock function mean you can chuck it in your bag (or bike drink holder!) and it won’t spill! Totally worth the money.for my sons Christmas box he was over the moon saves his car being covered in coffeeJust buy it, you won't regret itI am a HUGE fan of Zojirushi but this travel mug has left me very disappointed. I have two of the 20oz mugs that are the skinny design. They are hands down the best at keeping your beverage HOT. I ordered the travel mug because I thought it would have the same performance as the other mugs while having a wider mouth that would fit my aeropress. It doesn't and the difference is quite noticeable. If you drink 16oz quickly for example, your commute for work, you wouldn't notice much temperature loss. For me I drink my 16oz over half of my shift at work. By the time I'm done my coffee is just warm at best. I ran a test using the travel mug and 20oz mug. Both had 16oz of boiling water. After 10 hours the travel mug was holding at 100 degrees and the skinner mug design was at 140 degrees. That's a hug loss in comparison. I don't know if the ceramic coating in the skinner design has something to do with it. Other than the temp loss the travel mug is excellent with its locking lid and build quality. If I didn't want it for the aeropress I'd be sending it back. You would be better off spending your money on the skinny mug 16oz or 20oz if your just after something to keep your liquids hot. Brand wise nothing I've used is better than Zojirushi and I've spent a small fortune on insulated bottles and mugs.
