Light Mountain (r) Natural Hair Color and Conditioner The premier natural hair color and conditioner product line. Choose from our original line with the famous "henna animals" in 12 shades, or our unique Color the Gray line with 8 shades. We use no chemicals and no synthetic ingredients, only pure premium henna and other botanicals. We have been blending henna based natural hair colors since the early 1980's and are the leading totally natural line in the natural products industry. The Doctors Prescription for Healthy Living Newsletter (by the people who did the Safe Shopper's Bible, Freedom Press, Topanga California) rated our product the only one they found that was totally safe and chemical free. Henna hair color is also recommended in The Breast Cancer Prevention Program by Dr. Samuel Epstein and David Steinman (Macmillan, 1997) This is an excellent book that goes into great detail with information about the dangers of commercial chemical hair dyes, the increased cancer risks, and other associated problems. Our product is also specifically recommended in Being a Woman Naturally by Dr. Jan McBarron (Freedom Press, 2002). After describing the health risks of chemical hair dyes, she points out that Light Mountain Natural Hair Color and Color the Gray are safe, natural alternatives to the dangerous commercial hair dyes. Henna is the only natural hair color with an FDA monograph for safe and effective use as a natural hair color. Light Mountain uses NO PPD, No Ammonia, No Peroxide, No Chemicals whatsoever. Each batch of our premium grade henna is tested to ensure that it has no contaminants such as heavy metals or pesticides.

This is the best thing I’ve ever used to color my hair. I spent years using box dyes only for it to fade or wash out within 2 weeks. I started using henna about two years ago and my hair has grown significantly and it looks so much more natural on my already natural red hair. The best part is that it never really washes out. For the first day or two my hair came out more of a copper/orangish tone (which I love personally) and I used the red henna color with a fox on the packaging. By day three (second pic) my hair set into the final result and came out a really nice natural looking red super similar to my real hair color. Sometimes I use the spicy cinnamon colored henna and mix with chamomile tea and a little lemon and get that awesome copper color. This time I mixed hibiscus tea with the henna and got a darker color. I absolutely love this stuff!Yes, it's time consuming. You definitely have to set aside a specific "henna day" for your hair to turn out the best it can be. That's the only con I can think of. The smell some people mention doesn't bother me at all, it's a plant smell. Nothing different than being out in the garden in the rain. Your hair color will be unique to anyone else using the same color henna that you use, because it depends on your base color of hair. No one else's. The color is stunning, & my hair was so soft a few days after. Best of all, chemical free!!! I will never go back to hair dye. You can mix colors if you wish, or just go with the one color. This brand is amazing, & I will stick with it. Some add other oils, yogurt, teas, coffee to their mixture. I just added water & it turned out great. Just wish I'd done this years ago, but better late than never!! ?I absolutely love the hair dye. But the last time I ordered, I got three for the same price, but this time it came with only 1 and I need 2 for my hair.I remember having a very specific color in mind and having tried a ton of natural hair lightening techniques to get my hair to be nice cherry brown in the sunlight or as I called it "Elena hair" from the character portrayed by Nina Dobrev on The Vampire Diaries, if you ever saw that show and saw her hair in different lighting you'll know what I mean by cherry brown, it's a gorgeous color. Anyway, I tried cinnamon masks and honey masks and although I noticed some change in color it wasn't significant enough or happening fast enough where I felt satisfied so I decided to try something a little more permanent and fast acting but still safe for my curls. I started researching different kinds of henna brands and Light Mountain was one of the first I came across. I liked it because the steps were simple and it had a color chart for each color in the brand and it's estimated effect on each hair color and to me Red seemed like the best option. It arrived quickly and was simple to use, I did a strand test on 3 separate strands to wash out at each hour mark, so one was left in for 1 hr, then another for 2 hrs and the last one for 3 hrs, but I seemed to have achieved the desired color in as little as one hour. When I was ready to do a full application I didn't use any metal and I only made enough for the hair below my ears essentially. My hair is about boob length and I believe I only used 3 tablespoons, I eyeballed the amount of water I needed to make a paste and I added a table spoon of apple cider vinegar. My friend helped me apply it and the excess amount I mixed with conditioner and applied to my bangs and the crown of my head to create a very subtle color change because I wanted an ombre effect, I left that in for about an hour. The first picture is the before and after from my first application on March 15 in bathroom light. A week after the first application I did it again myself and I haven't done it since. The 2nd and 3rd pictures are from the second application taken in my bedroom with natural and the final picture is from today May 8th in natural light. For the most part my hair is still essentially dark brown and only truly looks red in direct sunlight or just a very bright room like bedroom with southern exposure but I didn't want to be a flaming redhead nor did I expect that. I just wanted a really nice natural looking reddish brown that was particularly vibrant in the sunlight and it is. I was at the park with my roommate the other day and she was stunned at how beautiful the color was and I did the application almost two months ago. I'm very happy with it, the color hasn't faded but I still have some henna left that I stored in the freezer so I plan on using it again in June. I can't wait!I’m a natural redhead and my hair is getting spots of white hair coming through. I wanted to try to cover those but didn’t want to use anything that would damage my hair. This wasn’t advertised as a color that would cover grey but I thought this was a good place to start in my coloring journey. It was easy to use and really added color to my hair. So much so that I hated it for the first few days, it was obvious that I’d done something to my hair, which was what I didn’t want. After three days, the color settled down and it perfectly matches my natural color and I LOVE it… it covered all of the white hairs and my hair is really healthy. I have long hair and it’s coarse, thick and curly and this package of henna handled all of my hair without a problem. I’m sure this would turn lighter hair a beautiful shade of red, or add a lot of copper to darker hair, and if you’re a natural redhead looking for some grey or white (red hair seems to go white, at least in my family) coverage, this is perfect! If you are looking for a natural way to color your hair, Light Mountain Natural is great. The colors are of course earth toned, but they come out vibrant! My wife likes it.I was born a redhead, but being Irish, I have been getting gray hairs sense 19... This is awesome henna, makes my gray, red again & it looks natural!Arrived quickly and instructions were super clear. If in doubt there are plenty of youtubes online to help with consistency questions. I have had many hair colours and I stripped my hair colour before applying this (it was dark brown before but chemical & brittle). After applying for 4 hours my hair is strong, silky smooth and this is what it looks like after 1 day (it takes up to 3 before it stops developing so I'm told) :)*See photo 2 for 11 days later*See photo 3 for months later after natural regrowth(Mousy brown) + henna on top. Still 'red' but not quite as copper as when I had my hair stripped before doing the first time!Put this on medium brown and already dyed and damaged hair and honestly I never thought my hair could look and feel this amazing. I definitely need more practice at apply and preparing it but I don't even care because me hair feels bloody amazing!!! It actually feels like hair again and doesn't get all ratty when I take it down from work! I'm honestly amazedI use the 'Red' and the colour is always lovely! If first time using henna, please red the instructions.I always leave to cure for 2 hours (although with this brand it isn't an absolute need), the apply and leave for 3-4 hours.Never had any problems with dryness afterwards - hair always looks and feels soft.Colour vibrancy is amazing every time.Brilliant! As someone who is a ginger and has never dyed their hair before I would recommend this to anyone who wants to brighten up their locks without any nasty chemicals my hair has certainly become brighter and I have received so many compliments already. The smell is a little unsettling as it is earthy/ horsedungy smell when preparing/ applying however after rinsing it out it does down and again if you wash it the next day or so. Totally worth it for the result though.Would also recommend using old carrier bags or newspaper to cover the floor where you're applying it as it can be quite messy but again worth it for the end result. I left mine to sit for 4hrs to prepare and another 4 once applied and end result went from dark Auburn to a Auburn with a red/ orange tinge which looks amazing in the sunlight. This is such a lovely colour, much better than the last orange dye I used which had washed out at the roots.Light mountain covers the roots really well, mine were quite noticeable as it had been around four months since last dyeing the hair. First time using this henna dye too and it's definitely worth it.Note: I already had dyed orange hair from a Schwarzkopf box in Mango which had gone quite a place shade over the months. Hence looking for something more natural instead of using more chemicals. Hopefully this henna will last much longer than your typical box dye. I will edit if I can in roughly a month's time. This picture here is from the second wash out since the night of dyeing, about three days ago. I've heard Henna takes a few days to develop and oxidise.I made the mixture by following the packet instructions and added some natural yoghurt (about half a tablespoon) with a squeeze of lemon juice myself. Covered it w the included hat and let sit for an hour before putting the mix on my head.Henna works best when warm apparently. If it's too thick you can always add small amounts of warm water gradually before applying.I left it on my head for four hours before washing out. And every now and then held the hair dryer on a warm setting over my head to add more heat (obviously don't melt the plastic hat)Everyone has their own way of mixing/applying henna so figure out what works best for you.All in all, lovely colour so far and would use again. Gonna see if it holds up in a few weeks time
